Rocks that fall from the sky have had people throughout history scared yet curious. The scientific significance they have been compelling. These are made of extremely unique materials that fascinate scientists, collectors and everyone in between!
A great deal of meteorites is small and attractive enough to be used as gems in the same condition as when they fell from the sky. Some meteorites are Iron. Other meteorites are called Pallasites. Pallasites are stony-iron meteorites which contain colorful Chrysolite crystals. These can be cut into gems. A rock created or modified by the impact of a meteorite is called an Impactite. They are usually colorful glasses that can be faceted, carved into little sculptures or even cut into cabochons.
There is a large demand for extraterrestrial gem materials. Mostly collectors are people people who have an interest in alternative and complementary medicine. Their belief, though not scientifically proven, is that these materials have special properties that are beneficial with promoting wellness.
