Summer is over, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t still digging for gems over here! This month’s gem of the month is Rhodolite. Most deposits of rhodolite garnet have been found in Madagascar, Mozambique, Norway, Brazil, Greenland, Kenya, Sri Lanka, and right here in the US. Mostly inclusion-free this type of garnet is categorized as a semi-precious gemstone.
Rhodolite is a purplish red variety of garnet that has been used since ancient times. It’s the natural birthstone of Aquarius. The name comes from Greek and means rose stone. This garnet is regarded as a gem of truth, faith and constancy from as early as the Middle Ages.
History states that Asiatic tribes would use bullets made out of garnets as opposed to lead, as they believed the garnet bullets to be more deadly. The sheer brilliance, hue, durability, and the accessibility of these stones plus their visible inclusions make these gemstones highly sought after in today’s market.
All garnets are associated with blood-related properties. This gemstone is known for aiding in the treatment of lung and heart disorders and enhancing metabolism and sexual appetite. Rhodolite supports the Heart, Base and Crown Chakras.
This Stone of Inspiration helps in emotional healing. Rhodolite encourages kindness, love and compassion. This is the perfect stone for your spiritual healing and health.
